The March for a Free Palestine on Saturday in Washington DC was quite possibly the largest demonstration on this subject in American history, attracting tens or hundreds of thousands of attendees.

“Ceasefire now! Ceasefire now!” demanded thousands on the streets of DC.

“1, 2, 3, 4, we don’t want your bloody war! 5, 6, 7, 8, Israel is a terror state!”

“Boo, Starbucks! They support genocide!” Some folks expressed disdain for Starbucks over its disagreement with “Solidarity with Palestine” statements and apparent support for Israel.

Some put stickers up on the Starbucks window.

News2Share spoke to two members of the Palestine Feminist Collective who say that “patriarchal violence is foundational to settler colonialism and to the colonial violence that Palestinians experience.”

They cite conditions faced by pregnant Palestinian women as an example of gendered violence by Israel.

Pro-Palestine demonstrators wave flags through, protest at White House fence

Thousands rallied in front of the White House Saturday night to say that “Biden, Biden, you can’t hide! We charge you with genocide!” and demand “ceasefire now!” from Israel.

Many held Palestinian flags through the fence, but Secret Service did not intervene.

The demonstrators in front of the White House taped “MURDERED BY ISRAEL” posters with pictures of apparently killed Palestinian children.

By the end of the night, hundreds of these posters were on the fence.

“Genocide Joe gets hard killing babies” one sign alleged.

The coalition of pro-Palestine demonstrators included socialist and communist groups.

“Socialist revolution, Intifada til victory!” read one sign held alongside a hammer and sickle flag.

Activists on a couple of occasions got help from their friends to climb the White House fence, but would slide down each time.

They would momentarily be able to wave their flags higher than the fence itself, though.

This individual was held up against the fence with his back to it to hold the flag high in the sky.

Editor’s note: “I’ve seen some outlets imply he was trying to jump over, which I believe is not true.”

One masked man threw a wooden rod or something similar over the White House fence toward Secret Service. “No! No!” others reacted.

Organizers began telling people the event was over shortly thereafter, and insisting they go home. They even remarked that it’s “for your safety” that the crowd leave.

After much of the crowd had already dispersed, the Secret Service began ripping down a pro-Palestine banner taped to the civilian side of the White House fence.

“Shame!” yelled the crowd in response as they taped it right back up. “Losers!”
