On Thursday, Codepink led a protest in front of the up-and-coming Trump hotel on Pennsylvania Avenue. Several speakers expressed their concern over Trump’s controversial remarks towards Muslims, and a boycott was proposed against the hotel itself.

The activists claimed that Trump is dampening American politics with racism and xenophobia, as well as exposing the prevalence of racism among his supporters.

“We don’t see the country we want to be when we look at Donald Trump,” Code Pink cofounder Medea Benjamin told News2Share. “I think it’s a great thing to say ‘let’s use our money in ways that support our values.’ And that would not be by staying here.”
