About 50 activists were arrested Friday blocking the departures concourse at Reagan Airport to interrupt members of congress from flying away for recess without having passed the “For The People Act.”

The group, led by the progressive advocacy group Until Freedom, also included DC Statehood and reparations.

The goal was to “hopefully disrupt some flights. Maybe some senators will be late for flights today,” said Until Freedom’s Linda Sarsour. “So this is hopefully a disruption just to escalate around the fight for voting rights and the For the People Act.”

The Reverend Stephen A. Green was the final arrestee at DCA, and he continued singing as he was taken into the airport in handcuffs.

“Hold on, hold on, keep your eyes on the prize, hold on. Hold on.”
