WATCH: Former Trump campaign official Rick Gates exits the courthouse after being sentenced to 45 days in jail (to be served on weekends) after pleading guilty and cooperating with federal officials. He was charged with conspiracy and lying to the FBI.

Gates was also sentenced to 3 years of probation, a $20,000 fine, and 300 hours of community service. The relatively lenient sentence came after prosecutors agreed to recommend he receive under the amount prescribed by federal sentencing guidelines for his testimony. He reportedly spent 50 hours assisting prosecutors in other cases, such as the case against Paul Manafort.

Manafort is serving a 7.5 years prison sentence on a variety of federal charges.
