As the House holds its day-long debate ahead of a vote to impeach Trump for Abuse of Power and Obstruction of Congress, a coalition of activists and organizations  held a rally to “Impeach and Remove” him from office.

On Friday the Judiciary Committee voted to pass both articles of impeachment, moving the impeachment case to a full House vote.

Trump is facing accusations of withholding military aid to Ukraine to pressure President Volodymyr Zelensky to pursue an investigation on Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden and his son Hunter Biden.

Former CIA officer and independent conservative 2016 presidential candidate Evan McMullin spoke out against Trump, encouraging impeachment.

“He cares more about getting the illegal support of foreign powers than he does about getting the support of Americans across the country,” said McMullin.

Diallo Brooks, Sr. Director of Outreach and Public Engagement at People For the American Way, said that supporters of impeachment are the “true patriots” and that patriotism means not blindly standing by a president in spite of their corruption.

Leah Greenberg, Co-Executive Director of Indivisible, called it a “tragedy for our country that we’re here today” to support impeaching a president, but that “we are in the right” and proud to stand up.

Nathaly Arriola, the Executive Director of Need to Impeach, says her group is handing out mirrors in congress so senators and reps can see themselves in the mirror. “Note voting for impeachment and voting to convict will be a betrayal of our constitution,” she added.

Karen Hobert Flynn, President of Common Cause, said that “nobody is above the law, not even the president of the United States” and referenced the hundreds of cities who held “Impeachment Eve” protests Tuesday night.
