“Troops go home!” chanted a group gathering at the Navy Yard neighborhood of Washington DC Friday night as they prepared their own patrol to document and protest the activities of federal agents and soldiers in Washington DC.
The activists split into groups to monitor law enforcement activity, chanting at soldiers along the way.
“Coward, racist, crooked troops, get a f***ing real job!” they yelled.
FBI, IRS-CI, Border Patrol, Secret Service and MPD huddled outside Wawa in the Farragut neighborhood of DC Wednesday night amidst Trump’s federal law enforcement surge.
As media arrived, four men wearing handguns and t-shirts absconded into an unmarked car, staying silent as I asked which agency they belonged to. The back of one shirt read “Special Response Team, New York Division.”
“Go home!” a man yelled from across the street. “F*** out of here!”
“Professional agitators” one of the remaining feds laughed, prompting a chuckle before the group mostly dispersed.
“Thank you so much ma’am!”
A woman exiting the Wawa nearby the police/federal agent huddle brought them several freshly purchased Wawa gift cards.
“God bless you, thank you so much,” another added as she distributed them.
Police officers from Washington DC’s Metropolitan Police Force (MPD), Customs and Border Patrol (CBP), and Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) held a checkpoint in the NoMa neighborhood Saturday morning, pulling over at least four trucks and other heavy vehicles.
“Free DC!” chanted thousands of protesters against the deployment of military troops and federal agents into Washington DC, particularly ICE.
“No more ICE!” they demanded.
“Hey, Mayor Bowser, you don’t care about us! Who keeps us safe? We keep us safe!”
The bells chimed at Foundry United Methodist Church apparently in solidarity as “Free DC” protesters marched by and cheered.
“Shame! Shame!” the protesters chanted as they marched past the White House. “Our neighbors shouldn’t live in fear, ICE, you’re not welcome here!”
“Go home, fascists!”
“Shame! Shame!” yelled the protesters at a man wearing an American flag shirt who appears to have disagreed with the event.
“What are you gonna do about it, p****?” a man asked while waiving a Mexican flag.
“Your president f***s children,” another added.
A woman at the demonstration against Trump’s actions toward DC dressed as the grim reaper carried a sickle reading “ALL MEN DIE” and “SOON” on the other side.
“There are those that have no respect for who we are,” said Former Washington DC Mayor Sharon Pratt from a stage at Freedom Plaza, where the march concluded and culminated in a rally.
“The only way we will be free in DC is to continue this, close ranks, and demand that we are free, and it is well within our reach!”
“Free DC!”
“We’re gonna use our power as jurors” said “Free DC” co-founder Keya Chatterjee. “We’re gonna use our power as consumers, right? We’re gonna enact economic sanctions on anyone who enables this occupation.”
“We’re gonna use our power as workers!”
“DC deserves better than a flurry of illegal stops and searches,” said community organizer Afeni Evans. “The children of DC deserve better than masked vigilantes roaming their streets with assault rifles!”
“DC’s migrant population deserves better than coming home to find that their family has been kidnapped by the same country that has sanctioned and destroyed their homeland!”
“DC deserves better than a mayor who would throw the city under the wheels of her plane to Martha’s Vineyard in order to anticipatorily comply with a fascist regime to preserve her own power!”
“We must put our resources, our voices, and our bodies on the line to protect our communities, because we are the revolution that we’ve been waiting for!”
Chicago joins the movement
“Donald Trump, you racist clown, immigrants will take you down!” chanted thousands of protesters marching in Chicago against an anticipated ICE surge and National Guard presence.
“Donald Trump, you racist clown, Black people will take you down!”
“F*** Trump! F*** Trump!” chanted protesters as they marched by Chicago’s Trump Hotel. “F*** ICE!”
“Shame!”
“We organize, we take the streets!” chanted the marchers as the event concluded.
“We will continue to come out until Trump, ICE, and all of his minions get the f*** out of our city, get the f*** out of our state!” an organizer announced to cheers.
This comes as President Trump posts a meme portraying himself as fictional LTC Bill Kilgore in “Apocalypse Now” saying “I love the smell of deportations in the morning” and that “Chicago about to find out why it’s called the Department of WAR.”
