A coalition of right wing groups today protested outside the Jackson Heights Public Library in New York City as a “Drag Story Hour” took place inside. Counter-protesters clashed on a few occasions with police, leading to one arrest.
“Groomers!” yelled the Proud Boys.
“Shut it down!”
“Bless your heart” chanted counter-protesters supporting the event.
With barricades separating the pro and anti Drag Story Hour sides on either side of the street, a person in a giant pink and rainbow unicorn costume danced in between.
Police opened up the barricade to put the unicorn into the pro Drag Story Hour side.
As the event concluded, Proud Boys escorted an ally away from the scene as she was apparently maced during a brief scuffle.
No further arrests occurred.
