While Ashli Babbitt has become the face off the January 6 storming of the United States Capitol after being shot dead by a USCP officer, she has become a martyr to the Trump movement.
Former President Trump – now posturing for a 2024 run – submitted a video which played at a “Texas Loves Ashli Babbitt” rally in Freeport, TX.
While Lt. Michael Byrd, who shot Babbitt, has been cleared of wrongdoing by an internal investigation, Trump as well as Congressman Paul Gosar call the shooting a “murder” and call for further investigation.
Speakers included: Pastor Edward Smith, Al Manica, Ed Dubois, Jamie Allman, David Sumerall, Tayler Hansen, Former President Trump (via video), Micki Witthoeft (Mother of Ashli Babbitt), Cara Castronuova, and Aaron Babbitt (Husband of Ashli Babbitt).
“That person who shot my wife, he didn’t just kill her. He took my soul,” said Aaron Babbitt, who compared the mission of getting repercussions for the USCP officer to the biblical story of David and Goliath.
“They squashed the movement that day,” said Micki Witthoeft. “They killed my daughter, and they jailed patriots, and they said ‘look what happens when you question us.'”
“There was no reason Ashli should have lost her life that day. We must all demand justice for Ashli and her family,” Trump said. Her memory will live on in our hearts for all time.”
Rep. Paul Gosar also appeared by video to say he continues to demand answers “as the family and indeed all Americans deserve full transparency and accountability surrounding the murder of Ashli.”
