Activists with Shut Down DC and Extinction Rebellion Washington DC protested outside several branches of Wells Fargo to oppose their corporate funding of the Line 3 Pipeline Friday morning with mixed results.

The group encountered some forceful pushback from police and a civilian at their first action, where they painted the words “Stop Line 3” in fake oil on the window of a downtown branch.

The group managed to get a short, makeshift meeting with a Dupont Circle Wells Fargo branch manager before heading to the company’s DC headquarters, where they spilled the fake oil onto the sidewalk and left behind police-style tape reading “Climate Emergency.”
