Supporters of the Kurdish people protested this afternoon outside the White House against President Trump’s decision to authorize a Turkish intervention into Syria.

The group says that Kurds support American values and were instrumental in defeating the Islamic State and that the Turks – who oppose them – will usher in a new wave of Islamic extremism.

Syrian Democratic Council to the United States co-chair Sinam Mohamad said that Trump’s actions will inadvertently trigger the freeing of jailed ISIS fighters.

Activist Rojhat Huseyin Ates says he wants Trump to make a “wiser decision” than the one announced the other night. He says Trump is leading the Kurds to “massacre,” but that even from a US perspective, he’s handing territory to an enemy of the United States.
