Tonight a small group of activists held a “Queer Yiddish Burlesque” protest in the form of a “Flashmob Dance” outside Stephen Miller’s apartment. They danced, shamed, and put three “curses” on the newly promoted Trump advisor.
The group, which called themselves “Shmutzik Shmates,” teamed up with “Werk for Peace,” another DC-based organization known for dance-based political demonstrations.
The group used dance as a form of protest, and even performed three “curses” against Miller.
Chants included:
-“Vern zol fun dir a blintshik un di kats zol dikh khapn – may you turn into a blintz and be snatched up by a cat.”
-“Es zol dir dunern in boykh un blitsn in di hoyzn – may you have thunder in your belly and lightning in your pants”
-“Keyn eye-hore zol im nit oysmaydn – let no evil eye avoid him
Hey hey daloy politsey! No Stephen Miller, No Fascist USA!
-“Shande Shande Shlekht Gemit, Immigration Hypocrite (shame, shame, you cruel, malicious spirit)”
-“No Borders! No Walls! Bread & Roses for All!”
“White supremacy’s aim is to erase and destroy anything that is different than itself, and one of its most effective tools to do so is assimilation into whiteness,” said Scott Brown of Jewish Voice for Peace DC. “While Stephen Miller may have chosen to take this bait in pursuit of a position of power and influence, we as Jewish people, especially white Ashkenazi Jews, have a responsibility to call this out. It is disgraceful to use the oppression that is a part of our Jewish history as a distraction from the ways we benefit from whiteness.”
