Democratic presidential candidate Andrew Yang led a rally at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington DC on Monday afternoon.

Yang, an entrepreneur, says that he is uniquely qualified to challenge Donald Trump given that he has already managed to assemble a coalition of “Former Trump supporters, Independents, Republicans Libertarians, Democrats and Progressives.”

Yang says the automation of jobs – particularly in manufacturing – led to the economic situation which caused Trump’s election. He believes Trump touched on some real issues, but that he offers the opposite solutions.

Yang emphasized his primary campaign promise: a universal basic income (UBI) which he called the “freedom dividend” where every 18+ American citizen would receive $1000 per month regardless of income level.

Yang also supports a “Medicare for all” platform instead of the current private insurance/ACA model.
