At least eight people are dead in Texas and Oklahoma after heavy rainfall caused severe flooding over Memorial Day weekend. In Hays County, Texas, twelve people are still missing after flooding destroyed more than 400 homes. One of the victims was 18-year-old Alyssa Ramirez, who was on her way home from prom when her car was swept away by floodwaters. Due to the inclement weather, thirty-seven counties in Texas are now under an emergency disaster declaration as forecasters predict more storms to hit this week. With the Federal Emergency Management Agency already beginning relief efforts, President Obama pledges to Governor Greg Abbot to provide further assistance.
