Thunder and rain would not be the only things you would hear if you were out last night on U Street in Washington DC. A diverse group of young protestors marched the streets of DC in solidarity with the Ferguson community and to demand long term change. They emphasized that “this is a movement, not a moment” and that Michael Brown’s death, while important, was not the first or last of its kind. In total, the protestors managed to block U Street, Adams Morgan and Columbia Heights. Despite the disruption to local business, the protest remained peaceful and none of the demonstrators were arrested or detained.
