In an act of civil disobedience, pro-Palestine protesters with “Democrats for Human Rights” demanding an arms embargo against Israel blocked an entrance to the White House and zip-tied a banner on it even as Secret Service issued warnings tonight.
“We have to stop this genocide,” said protest organizer Kai Newkirk.
“Uphold the law, arms embargo now!” chanted the protesters as they were issued a second warning by Secret Service, who told them that anyone without an ID could be held overnight.
“We’re gonna stay here until Biden does the right thing and upholds the law” said Newkirk.
Police brought over a large case labelled “mass arrest kit.”
Police then issued a third warning.
“Anyone wanna go first guys?” asked a Secret Service officer carrying cuffs.
“Uphold the law, arms embargo now!” the nine protesters who continued to remain in place chanted as police began arresting them.
“Stop killing children, arms embargo now!” chanted supporters.
“We want people to know that at least somebody in this country is marking this deadline,” said Newkirk about a Biden commitment to limit weapons to Israel if humanitarian conditions in Gaza didn’t improve by today.
He and the rest were arrested.
