“Trump must go now!” demanded protesters led by the group Refuse Fascism in Washington DC on Wednesday afternoon as they marched from the Washington Monument to the Supreme Court.
They made this demand today on the one-year anniversary of Trump’s 2024 election.
Organizer Sunsara Taylor called Trump a “Fascist. There is no living with fascism.”
“We’ve gotta drive Trump from power, non-violently,” she said. “If he’s not driven from power, his atrocities are gonna escalate and he is going to violent shut down any space for anyone to oppose him.”
“Antifa’s right here Scam Bondi, dumb b***!” an activist from FIRE (an anti-Trump group camped daily outside Union Station) yelled outside the DOJ. “That’s what I thought, you’re a f***ing coward!”
“Don’t worry, hoe, the history books are gonna remember what you’ve done!”
One apparent right-wing content creator was removed by police from the march path and pushed to the sidewalk.
“No Nazis in this parade!” participants told him. “Go home!”
Activists posed with Handmaid’s Tale costumes in front of the (Trump banner adorned) Department of Labor and the Supreme Court.
“ICE, Gestapo, we say no!” they chanted. “Now’s the time for Trump to go!”
“People are fighting for the right to exist!” yelled a protester outside the Supreme Court at police. “It is illegal to be Black or brown right now, badge or not!”
“You spineless punks!” added another. “You f***ing traitors, walk out here now and join us!”
Former Capitol Police Officer Michael Fanone, who retired after being injured on January 6, spoke out ahead of the march to remove Trump.
“This movement, Refuse Fascism, is for moments like this one!” he said. “Trump must go!”
