Protesters including many veterans assembled Friday afternoon on the National Mall to demand Congress invoke the 14th Amendment to remove Trump from office as an “insurrectionist.”
“It’s not exaggeration, and it’s not melodrama,” said the program’s MC Cliff Cash. “Donald Trump is a Russian asset.”
“Traitor! Traitor!” yelled the crowd, who held a variety of signs condemning Trump as well as Elon Musk and Vice President JD Vance.
“Serve no kings,” read one banner with a guillotine drawn on it.
Former Capitol Police Officer Harry Dunn spoke out, describing that he had a PTSD attack seeing this anti-Trump crowd, many of whom are veterans wearing military gear etc.
“The last time I saw everybody like this, they were beating the s*** out of me and my coworkers at the Capitol,” he said, to which the crowd yelled “traitors!”
“November 5th, we had an opportunity,” he added. “We f***ed it up!”
“They cheated” an audience member yelled, to which Mr. Dunn replied “maybe.”
He says some people with “backbone” need to use the 14th Amendment, Section 3, to get Trump out of office.
Jessica Denson, organizer of the “14th Now” rally, said of Congress “every single one of them abandoned you, abandoned this whole country of January 6” 2025 by not blocking Trump.
“If that doesn’t happen, and we’re not promoting it for one second, there would be violence,” she says of Congress failing to use the 14th Amendment to remove President Trump from office. “And these people have the opportunity to stop it, and they didn’t!”
“They’re cowards, every single one of them,” before adding that she believes in “redemption” and arguing that Congress “could impeach him. They could be calling for impeachment every single day of the week!”
Activist and veteran Russell Ellis, who goes by “Jolly Good Ginger” described Elon Musk as “a frickin’ billionaire running amok in our Capitol!”
He says Trump already has achieved “grounds for impeachment. House Democrats, that’s your sign, impeach him now!”
Bryan Betancur, a January 6 participant who was sentenced to four months in jail but has since been pardoned by Trump, showed up at the anti-Trump rally wearing a MAGA hat, where several people argued with him as security removed him.
