Protesters bombarded police and federal agents’ vehicles with dildos Saturday afternoon outside the Whipple Federal Building, which is being used as an ICE facility.
Activists ran into the street to grab the colorful phalluses for a chance to throw them again.
Hennepin County Sheriff’s deputies held the crowd back while tossing the sex toys over the fence toward the federal property to prevent them from being thrown by the protesters repeatedly.
“Shame! Shame!” the protesters yelled. “You’re saving them for later I bet!”
“Would you like to take a hit?” a man offered a cannabis joint to a sheriff’s deputy. “You guys look like you’re under a lot of stress!”
“This can’t be very much fun, come on!” he insisted, as the deputy declined with a smile.
Additional Hennepin County Sheriff’s Deputies and State Police showed up in formation to clear the crowd, announcing warnings over an LRAD before declaring “you are under arrest, be seated where you are and follow the direction of officers!”
The remaining crowd retreated, but did not sit down.
Police began grabbing people who hadn’t fully departed and making arrests, taking several of them to the ground.
“Go home Nazis!” some remaining activists chanted, a few of whom formed a new line facing the officers with shields of their own.
“Hot and ready!” an activist handed out pizza to the protesters remaining to face down the officers outside the Whipple Federal Building.
“No pizza for you!” she told the police.
Suddenly, officers charged into the crowd, taking down protesters from the police line all the way to the parking lot, forcing their compliance at the threat of mace and taser deployment.
“You are under arrest!” they announced.
Police approached a man filming on his phone, who claimed to be press and was subsequently arrested since he lacked any credential.
Officers continued arresting those who remained, also confronting a man with a DSLR camera saying he’s press without a credential.
He pulled something up on his phone with the officers accepted, letting him go.
