Actresses Jane Fonda, Rosanna Arquette, Catherine Keener were among the 46 activists arrested this afternoon in the Capitol protesting climate change and advocating a “Green New Deal.”
“These climate emergencies offer us a chance to choose between succumbing to the hatred that our president is spewing and turning on one another or coming together in shared humanity and supporting each other,” Fonda told reporters before the arrest.
This is Fonda’s fourth arrest in the last month, each at one of her “Fire Drill Friday” demonstrations. This week was especially focused on how climate change impacts women.
Fonda moved to Washington DC last month to participate in activism, and intends to be arrested at least once a week until the beginning of 2020 when “Grace and Frankie” begins filming its next season.
