On Saturday, AntiFa (“Anti-Fascist”) protesters faced off with Richard Spencer, a white nationalist leader in Washington DC. Spencer was leading dozens in a protest against the war in Syria, which the Antifa say is misguided because of his other views such as restricting immigration and ethnonationalism. “We absolutely oppose this war, as much as we oppose Nazis and fascism,” the protesters said.
The protesters fought using fists, flag polls, and a glitter bomb. Spencer and his group attempted to flee in a taxi and the Antifa forced the cab open, starting a brawl on the street leading to two arrests. Spencer ultimately ran across the national mall with protesters on his tail and managed to hail a cab nearly two miles away.
