Today hundreds gathered outside of the Brookings Institution in Washington, D.C. to protest against and show support for Turkish President Erdogan. This led to clashes between protesters, police, and Turkish security guards.

One woman, identified as Sukriye Yildirim, was hit in the face and later passed out. The altercation occurred when Yildirim crossed from the Pro-Erdogan demonstration to the Anti-Erdogan protest.

“I though they were going to kill me,” she said in an interview with News2Share.

A video submitted by Even Sweeney shows the initial clash that led to a day of small violent eruptions. Early reports indicated that the Metropolitan Police Department was fighting with Turkish security after a journalist was injured.
