On Wednesday afternoon a man was swept away in the Potomac river after jumping off of a nearby cliff. John Lademan who was hiking along the banks saw the man as he was pulled under the water. The victim was with another swimmer who managed to escape. Montgomery county fire and rescue boats combed the water as U.S. Park police helicopters searched from above. At this time the search has been suspended for nightfall, but it is expected to resume in the morning.
