Kurdish artist and MFA candidate Ayad Almissouri discusses the terror group ISIS and his family’s position with in the conflict in this latest interview by News2share. Almissouri points out that many Yazidi women have been slaughtered, raped and kidnapped. With these negative thoughts on his mind about the region he came from, Almissouri turns to art to release his stress and voice his opinions on the conflict.

Although Almissouri’s family is currently safe, he does fear for their well-being. Almissouri believes that the US ‘aerial support is great’ but believes it will be difficult to stop ISIS. As the region continues to be in turmoil, Almissouri wants to use his art to highlight the feelings of the Kurdish people and their struggles with identity.
